Use the practice green

Read the green, choose its speed, putt with the camera, and return to PuttBay.

Instructions for PuttBay 0.9 beta

Choose Start putting practice on the Start bar. PuttBay asks before leaving a GSPro round, then opens the practice green behind the ball. Camera putting keeps measuring your real stroke. You can also hold and release A to roll a test putt.

Choose the green speed

Before normal practice and games with adjustable speed, choose stimp 6 through 13. Stimp 11 is the default and the last choice is remembered. PuttBay Test and Daily Nine use their own fixed stimp 10 rules, so those games skip the choice.

Read it yourself

  • Reading grid shows the slope grid and moving dots. It starts on in practice. Press Y to turn it on or off.
  • Aim line shows the direction you chose. Press View on the controller or K on the keyboard to turn it on or off.
  • D-pad Up crouches, Left opens the low-side view, Down looks from behind the hole, and Right opens the orbit view.
  • Right-stick click opens the top view. Left-stick click switches between this putt and the whole green.
  • Show me the read and Replay the read are optional learning aids under Pause → Settings and Game options. They start off and stay off in games, where reading the putt is part of the game.

Distance, the slope's direction, green speed, and the result stay visible in golf words. PuttBay shows a suggested aim line only when you turn on Show me the read.

Move, aim, and putt

  • Move the ball with the left stick or choose a preset spot. X picks a random putt.
  • Use LT and RT to nudge aim from behind the ball.
  • Hold A to choose test-putt speed and release it to roll. With camera putting, hit the real putt instead.
  • LB and RB change holes. Tab opens recent putting stats.

Return to the app

Open Pause and choose Close green and return to PuttBay. Confirm once and the green closes cleanly. The same action is at the bottom of every green menu. Closing the green returns you to PuttBay; it does not close PuttBay itself.
