Putting with a FlightScope Mevo+ in GSPro
The Mevo+ is a great full-shot launch monitor for the money. Putting is where Mevo owners start asking questions. Here are the options that actually exist, what each needs, and what each gives up.
Last updated September 30, 2026. This also applies to the Mevo Gen2.
Option 1: GSPro's FlightScope route (the Mevo's own putting mode)
With GSPro's FlightScope license, GSPro Connect talks to the Mevo+ directly over the Mevo's own Wi-Fi. It switches the Mevo between normal, chipping and putting modes by itself as you move around the course. No extra app runs during play. See GSPro's FlightScope guide.
Good:
- Official and simple.
- Chipping mode switches automatically, so short chips register.
The catch:
- Putting relies on the Mevo's radar reading a putt, and plenty of golfers find that unreliable on short, slow strokes. Many end up letting GSPro auto-putt or giving themselves gimmes.
- Your PC joins the Mevo's Wi-Fi network (it shows up as "FS M2-..."), so it loses its normal internet connection unless you add Ethernet or a second Wi-Fi adapter.
- Because GSPro owns the connection to the Mevo on this license, nothing else can add putts to your round. That includes a webcam.
Option 2: Webcam putting with an Open API license
With GSPro's Open API (Open Connect) license, a connector sends the Mevo's full shots to GSPro, and a camera over your mat reads your putts.
Good:
- You putt for real. A camera reads the ball's speed and start line from your actual stroke, and GSPro plays that putt.
- Nothing depends on the radar picking up a slow putt.
The catch:
- You need a connector for the Mevo on the Open API route. FlightScope doesn't offer an open output, so golfers use community connectors they install themselves.
- On this route GSPro doesn't switch the Mevo into chipping mode for you. Very short chips can be missed unless your connector switches modes by club. Pick your wedge in GSPro before a short chip so the connector knows.
- GSPro only accepts one connection, so the connector and the putting camera have to share it. Here's why that matters.
Option 3: GSPro's auto-putt or gimmes
If you just want to keep moving, GSPro can putt for you or concede short putts. That's fine for a quick round, but you're not really putting, and your practice doesn't carry over.
Which should you pick?
- You want simple, and putting isn't the point: the FlightScope license route.
- You want to actually putt: the Open API route with webcam putting. That's the route PuttBay is built for.
How PuttBay handles your Mevo+ putting (in beta)
PuttBay handles your putting. The Mevo handles everything else. Pick GSPro's Open API license and PuttBay puts you in the middle of a single round:
- Full shots from your Mevo+ come in through flighthook, a free community connector you install yourself.
- PuttBay finds it, points it at PuttBay, starts it minimized and reconnects it with one press.
- PuttBay passes GSPro's club and distance back to it, so it can switch the Mevo into chipping mode for short chips.
- Putts come from your camera. When GSPro has your putter in hand, the camera over your mat reads your real stroke
and PuttBay sends that putt.
- Anything the Mevo picks up while you're putting is held back, so GSPro never gets the same putt twice.
- One press to start and one press to reconnect.
- PuttBay never bundles or modifies flighthook beyond pointing it at PuttBay, and "Put flighthook back as it was" is one press.
On GSPro's FlightScope license instead:
- GSPro talks to the Mevo directly and won't take putts from any other app, so camera putting can't be added to those rounds. That's GSPro's rule for every launch-monitor maker's license, not just FlightScope's.
- PuttBay recognizes that license, walks you through the Mevo's Wi-Fi setup, and says so plainly.
- PuttBay's practice green still uses your camera, so you can train your pace off the course.
Mevo+ support is in beta: it's built and being tested on real units now. Got a Mevo+ or Mevo Gen2? Join the beta and tell us.
